Janice K. Druivenga, age 71, of Battle Creek, IA, passed away on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Horn Memorial Hospital, of Ida Grove, IA.
          
A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday January 17, 2014, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. The Father Richard D. Ball will officiate. Interment will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a rosary service held at 4:30 p.m. and a vigil service held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Janice K. (Petersen) Druivenga was born on February 17, 1942, one of four children born to Anton (Tony) and Dorothy (Meier) Petersen. Janice was baptized in to the catholic faith at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. She attended school at Battle Creek Community Schools and graduated in 1961.

After high school Janice enrolled in Beauty School in Council Bluffs, Iowa and then transferred to a school in Sioux City, Iowa, where she became a Beauty Operator.  Janice met the love of her life James Druivenga and the couple were married on November 30, 1962 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple were blessed with two beautiful children, Brian and Brenda.

Janice used her talent as a Beauty Operator to fix hair at Willow Dale Nursing Home as well as worked at the Joyce’s Grocery Store in Ida Grove.

Janice lost her son, Brian after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer in 1986.

Janice was an active bowler, who also enjoyed Pinochle marathon, bingo, crossword puzzles, visiting with friends. She was also a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, and also helped in the past to organize Senior Citizen potlucks in Battle Creek, Iowa.

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 51 years James Druivenga of Battle Creek, Iowa, daughter, Brenda (Mike) Stokes of Whiting, Iowa, 2 grandchildren Aaron & Allison of Whiting, Iowa, her mother Dorothy Petersen of Battle Creek, Iowa, sisters, Bonnie (Bill) Weber of Peoria, Arizona, Anita (Jim) Reitz of Seneca, Kansas, sister-in-law Shelia Petersen of Battle Creek, Iowa, and nieces and nephews.

Janice was preceded in Death by her father, Anton (Tony) Petersen, brother, Jim (Jimmy) Petersen, and son Brian Druivenga.
