Cindy Kay Gunderson was born on June 9, 1955 in Spirt Lake, Iowa, to Cyril and Julia (Ukasick) Gunderson. Cindy grew up on the family farm outside of Kiron, Iowa, where she attended special educations programs in Sac City, Wall Lake, Lake View and Ida Grove.

Cindy joined the New Hope family in Carroll, Iowa as a resident on May 29, 1979. She joined the United Methodist Church of Carroll, Iowa and took part in United Methodist Women.

Cindy was active in the programs that New Hope provided. She was a member of the Praising Hands Sign Choir and had the privilege of preforming for the Governor. Cindy loved the water, which earned her a spot on the Special Olympic Swim Team. Cindy also enjoyed the Carroll Garden club, bowling league, and shopping, but she truly treasured most of all spending time with her family.

“Cindy was such a precious lady and so proper. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. She and Danny Jay attended the school in Wall Lake and were great friends. He often talked about her being his best friend. I enjoyed being able to see her often at Twilight Acres and do her hair. She had such a infectious smile and we know she is at peace. We send our love and sympathy to all your family and we pray God's blessing to you all. Jack and Carol”
