Roger A. Segebart, age 65, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Odebolt Specialty Care of Odebolt, Iowa.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. The Reverend Kevin J. Freese will officiate. Private family interment will be held in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa. No Visitation will be held. Roger A. Segebart was born on October 19,1951, in Cherokee, Iowa, to Alvin and Delores (Lansink) Segebart. At the age of 2, Roger’s mother passed away. His father married Darlene Neglas.
Roger graduated from Battle Creek High School with the class of 1969. After graduation, he lived in Storm Lake, Iowa and worked as a delivery truck driver for Kitty Clover potato chip company. Later he decided to move to Las Vegas where he spent the next 30 years. While in Vegas he drove truck for the Weber Bread Company. While delivering bread, he met his wife Shirley (Smith) who was a clerk at one of the bread stores. They made their home in Vegas along with their pets Rusty and Dusty.
Roger lost his wife Shirley to cancer in 2008 and shortly after that his health started to fail. It became necessary for him to return to Iowa to be near family to help care for him.
Roger enjoyed good food, country music, his pets and most of all he loved Las Vegas.
Left to cherish his memory are his father, Alvin and step-mother Darlene Segebart of Battle Creek, Iowa; brothers, Richard (Rhonda) Segebart of Schaller, Iowa, and David (Rebecca) Segebart of Schaller, Iowa; half-brother, Rick (significant other Shari) Segebart of Battle Creek, Iowa; and half-sister, Cindy (Marc) Albers, Battle Creek, Iowa.
Roger was preceded in death by his mother, Delores Segebart and his wife, Shirley Segebart.
