Rose Ann Ladwig, age 69, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away on Saturday, December 29, 2018, surrounded by her loved ones at her residence of Ida Grove, Iowa.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Father Richard D. Ball will officiate. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:45 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 2, 2019, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Rose Ann Ladwig, the daughter of Lawrence and Isabella (Jacoby) Steele, was born on September 5, 1949. She grew up in the Danbury and Mapleton, IA area and graduated from Mapleton High School with the class of 1968.
On June 1, 1968, Rose married the love of her life Howard A. Ladwig in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Danbury, IA. The couple settled in Ida Grove, IA and were blessed with a daughter Lori and son Travis.
In her younger years, Rose worked various jobs before becoming employed as an assistant librarian with Ida Grove Public Schools later on known as BCIG. This friendly face and warm smile helped our youth find books and grow in knowledge for 28 years before retiring.
Rose loved the great outdoors. She relished in camping trips, fishing, and boating. She enjoyed weekends on the back of her husband Howard's motorcycle, tending to her garden and flower beds, snuggling with her dog CoCo and her cat Zoey. Rose treasured her time spent with family and adored her grandbabies.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Isabelle Steele; brothers Bob Steele, Jim Steele, and Roger Steele; and sister Jean Steele.
Left to cherish her memories are her husband of 50 years, Howard Ladwig of Ida Grove, IA; children Lori (Fred) Anderson of Ida Grove, IA and Travis (Kelly) Ladwig of Tremont, IL; grandchildren Amber (Chad) Schaeding of Battle Creek, IA, Blake Anderson of Ida Grove, IA, Tyler Anderson of Ida Grove, IA, Abby Ladwig of Chicago, IL and Allie Ladwig of Tremont, IL; great-grandchildren Carter Spinharney and Maggie Schaeding of Battle Creek, IA; brother Donald Steele of Ida Grove, IA; sisters Connie (Mark) Husted of Sioux City, IA, Carol (special friend Rick Lane) Fruechtenicht of Jefferson, SD, Darlene Nicholson of Sioux City, IA, and Rita Steele of Garden City, MO; beloved companions Coco and Zoey; extended family and friends.
