In Memory of Holly Snell
Holly Snell, age 66, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2019, at the Select Specialty Hospital of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Father Richard D. Ball will officiate. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary Service at 6:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 7, 2019, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Holly Jo Snell was born on February 11, 1953, in St. Anthony’s Hospital of Carroll, Iowa. She was the daughter of Floyd and Eva Mae (Bond) Konrady. The family made their home in Odebolt, Iowa and relocated to Ute, Iowa where Holly started kindergarten. The family lived in Ute until Holly was in the 4th grade then the family moved to a farm east of Ida Grove, Iowa, in January of 1964.
Holly graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1973. After graduation Holly moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she began working in sectorial positions in an office setting.
On September 13, 1997, Holly was united into marriage to James Snell. The couple shared 13 years together before James passed away in May of 2011.
Holly remained in Des Moines and continued working for Rochester Armored Car Services until health issues forced her into retirement.
In her spare time, Holly had a passion for playing Canasta and reading novels and books of all genres. She had a soft spot for cats and dogs but was especially fond of cats. Holly treasured her time with her family and friends. They brought immense joy to her life.
A special memory for Holly was her vacation to Florida in 2017. It was a goal of Holly’s to return to Florida and spend time on the beach with her niece Nicole and close friend Kris.
Due to health issues, Holly returned to Ida Grove in May of 2018 where she resided at Morningside Care Center. After a lengthy stay in the hospital, Holly was welcomed through the gates of heaven on October 1, 2019.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother Eva Konrady of Ida Grove, IA; brother Craig (Jeanne) Konrady of Elk Point, SD; sister Victoria Konrady of West Des Moines, IA.
She was preceded in death by her father Floyd Konrady (1982) and husband James “Jim” Snell (2011).
