Elnora Mathilda Dora [Bergmann] Lunzman, one of six children of Heinrich Conrad and Anna Adelheid [Rippe] Bergmann, was born November 4, 1925 in Auburn, Nebraska.  She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church [Hickory Grove] in Auburn.  Elnora grew up on a farm with her 5 siblings. Elnora received her early education at Rural District 72 school near her home and graduated from Auburn High School in 1942.

After high school, Elnora worked as a dental assistant and at the Auburn State Bank in Auburn, Nebraska.

On April 3, 1949, Elnora was united in marriage to Victor H. Lunzman at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church [Hickory Grove] in Auburn.  They were blessed with three children:  Marsha, Stephen, and Keith.  They made their home in Ida Grove, Iowa where Victor started his business,  later known as Lunzman Trenching, Inc.  She worked as the bookkeeper for the family business until retiring in 1988. Elnora and Victor spent many years wintering in Florida and other travels including Germany.

Elnora was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Ida Grove where she was in church circles, sang in the church choir, and was a Sunday school and  Vacation Bible School teacher for many years.  She was also a cub scout leader. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Horn Hospital Auxiliary.  Elnora loved playing cards [mostly bridge] and was in two bridge clubs for many years. She also enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing scrabble, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, and playing golf.  She spent many years canning and freezing vegetables and enjoyed cooking and baking.  She also volunteered at the local nursing home with her church circle.  The two most important things in Elnora’s life were family and her faith.

In 2011, Elnora moved to Golden Horizons Assisted Living. Two years later she moved to Morningside Healthcare and four years later to Willow Dale Wellness Village in Battle Creek.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, in 2000, brothers Edwin and Martin, and sisters Helen and Arlene.

Elnora is survived by her three children, Marsha and her husband Marc of Ida Grove; Stephen and his wife Camela of Chillicothe, Illinois; Keith Lunzman of Pisgah; grandchildren Christina [Eric] Kjar Hanson of Holstein; Katie Lunzman of Peoria, Illinois; Amber [Kevin] Sampier of Trivoli, Illinois; and Erika [Keith] Atkinson of Chillicothe, Illinois; great-grandchildren Kevin, Kristen, Annika, Malcolm, and Clara; brother, Harvey Bergmann, of Auburn, Nebraska; sister-in-laws:  Mildred Needham and Marge Merritt both of Lincoln, Nebraska and Pat Lunzmann and Huldah Lunzmann both of Auburn, Nebraska.
