LaDonna Linman Lalone was born in rural Ida County between Ida Grove and Arthur, Iowa, on October 5, 1931, to Marion and Minnie (Wunschel) Druivenga. She attended Arthur Community Schools.
On July 1, 1950, she married Marion Linman, in Grant County, South Dakota. The couple moved to a farm south of Arthur where they farmed side-by-side for the remainder of Marion’s lifetime. In 1976 she married Robert Lalone in Storm Lake, Iowa. After their retirement from farming, they enjoyed camping. He passed away in 1998.
LaDonna was a faithful church-goer her entire life until she was unable to attend due to her health. She was a member of Arthur Baptist Church and served as a leader of the youth group and the Girls’ Missionary Society. She was also a Sunday School teacher and the Sunday School Superintendent. LaDonna transferred her membership to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, where she continued her service in the Ladies’ Aide. She and her sister Carolyn enjoyed going to the casino and she liked playing card games with family. LaDonna loved the menagerie of pets that her children brought home. She raised and cared for a variety of dogs.
After breaking her hip, LaDonna resided in Morningside Care Center, later moving to Willow Dale Care Center in Battle Creek where she lived out the rest of her days. The staff in both facilities were very caring.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Marion and Minnie (Wunschel) Druivenga; husbands, Marion Linman and Robert Lalone; son Steven Linman; and daughter Marsha Patterson.
