In Memory of Timothy J. Pridie

Timothy “Tim” Pridie, age 73, of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at the MercyOne-Siouxland Regional Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the St. Martin Catholic Church of Odebolt, Iowa. Father Joseph A. Dillinger will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by the Roose Post No. 313 of the American Legion of Odebolt, Iowa. Inurnment will be held at a later date at the St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery of Kingsley, Iowa. 

A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa.

Timothy “Tim” Joseph Pridie, the son of Charles and Geraldine (Carraher) Pridie, was born on April 1, 1951, in Sioux City, Iowa. He grew up in Hinton, Iowa and received his education from Hinton High School graduating with the class of 1969. At the age of 12, Tim began working for Gene Hansen and was his right-hand man for many years working on the farm. In 1969, Tim entered the Air National Guard and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge in 1975. 

In 1971, Tim met Marilyn “Mary” Krogman in Hinton. The couple was united in marriage on April 5, 1972, in Elk Point, South Dakota. They were blessed with two children, Shanda and Troy. The family made their home in Denison, Iowa, where Tim drove truck for Wells Blue Bunny. Willie Mohr then brought Tim and his family to Odebolt, Iowa, to help him on the farm. Tim also worked for the City of Odebolt until he decided to pursue a career in plumbing. He opened his own business, Tim’s Plumbing & Heating. Five years later and after much consideration, Tim decided to close is his business and went to work for Casey’s General Stores. He started as a maintenance supervisor and worked his way up to district manager overseeing all the new stores in his territory.

After being away from home for so many years, Tim decided it was time to stick close to home and worked the rest of his working years for CW Suter doing his passion of plumbing. Once he accepted his retirement, Tim was not content sitting idle. He then hauled slats for his son-in-law, Chewy, at Bedrock Concrete Products in Schleswig, Iowa. His restlessness came again and took him back to Hinton to help Lance Bollmeyer on the farm as well as help Jim Otken, owner of Oil Express, in Sioux City, Iowa, until Tim’s untimely passing.

In his free time, Tim enjoyed attending the annual squirrel hunt in Guthrie Center, Iowa, with his buddies from Odebolt where many stories were told with a cold one in hand while sitting around the fire. For 10 years Tim was a volunteer fireman in Odebolt serving 2 years as fire chief. Hinton was the place however that always held a special place in Tim’s heart. It was his home away from home.  He was very proud that he was able to purchase the family acreage and enjoyed being able to spend time there. While in Hinton, Tim enjoyed his morning coffee with the guys at Mini’s. This neighborhood tradition later continued at Rick’s place. He could also be found tinkering with tractors at Bruce Hageman’s.

Tim’s pride and joy was his children and grandchildren. He loved any time spent with them whether it was spending time with grandson Code in Hinton, calling up Beauzer to talk about farming and cows, watching his sweetie pie Alex play numerous sports or attending Chloe’s dance recitals. He enjoyed his weekly chats with Troy on where he was heading. Tim will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. 

Left to cherish his memory include his loving wife Mary Pridie of Odebolt, IA; children Troy Pridie and Shanda (Chewy) Mohr both of Denison, IA; grandchildren Cody, Beau, and Alex Mohr of Denison, IA and Chloe Pridie of Ida Grove, IA; sister Francie Peterson of Sioux City, IA; sisters-in-law Marlene Pridie of Akron, IA and Marge Pridie of Omaha, NE; nieces, nephews, extended family; and many awesome friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Geraldine Pridie; sisters Patricia (John) Bliss and Carol (Marlin) Idso; brothers Gerald Pridie, Charles (Betty) Pridie, and Robert Pridie; in-laws Milo and Marvel Krogman; many nieces and nephews.
