Charlotte Joan Nichols was born on March 4, 1939, in Ida Grove, Iowa, to Carl John and Bertha Marie Rehse.
In August of 1958 Charlotte married Gene Schneider. They were blessed with three children: Rodney, Roy, and Helen. The couple later parted ways.
Charlotte moved to Lakewood, Colorado, in 1984 where she worked as a professional seamstress. On October 28, 1989, Charlotte married Harold “Nick” Nichols. Over the next several years they lived in Rapid City, South Dakota, Abilene, Texas, Aurora, Colorado and Fredericksburg, Texas. Charlotte and Nick eventually returned to Iowa to reside in Odebolt.
Charlotte worked at the Odebolt Nursing Home where she enjoyed working with the residents. Charlotte then worked as a paraeducator at the Odebolt Middle School where she enjoyed working with the students over the next several years. Even in full retirement, Charlotte was well known for her abilities as a seamstress for prom dresses and all sorts of mending. During this time, she was an active member in the Odebolt American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. She was also a faithful member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Odebolt.
Left to cherish her memories include her children Rodney (Karla), Roy, and Helen. Charlotte was blessed with one grandchild and two great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored. She is also survived by her sister Kathleen (Chester) Creswell.
