Linda L. Hurley, age 62, of Odebolt, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 at her residence of Odebolt, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2015, at the First Presbyterian Church of Odebolt, Iowa. The Pastor Bill Crawford will officiate. Burial will be in the Odebolt Cemetery of Odebolt, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 8 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa. Linda Lou (Osterholt) Hurley was born on August 16, 1952 to Albert and Irene (Stoelk) Osterholt in Carroll, Iowa.
She grew up in the Carroll and Vail, Iowa area, where she attended and graduated from Ar-We-Va in 1970. After school Linda worked as a secretary in Omaha, Nebraska and then as a Book Auditor for Gamble’s in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
Linda met Ken Hurley and the couple were united into marriage on July 20, 1974, in the Presbyterian Church in Vail, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Matthew and Mindy.
Linda and Ken made their home in Odebolt, Iowa. Linda worked outside of the home while raising her children. She worked at the nursing home in Odebolt, First Federal Bank, And Pop in Time Popcorn in Lake View. Linda and Ken moved to an acreage by Odebolt where she raised ostriches and then horses.
The couple then moved back to town where Linda was a very active member of her church family. She served as a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Odebolt, Iowa. Linda was responsible to head up funeral luncheons and help out where ever she was needed.
Linda enjoyed, watching Days of Our Lives every afternoon, spending time with her grandchildren, snuggling up to her loving beagle Molly, baking, cooking, going to the casino, and a good game of cards.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband Ken Hurley of Odebolt, Iowa; children, Matthew Hurley of Odebolt, Iowa; Mindy (Calvin) Brockman of Odebolt, Iowa; grandchildren, Shailey Hurley and Jaida Brockman; sister, Annmarie Mason of Carroll, Iowa; and many family and friends.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Ivan Osterholt.
