In Memory of William "Bill" Carnine
William G. “Bill” Carnine passed away unexpectedly on October 28, 2015 at the age of 58.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 7, 2015, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. The Reverend Richard A. Salcido will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted at the Church by the McNamara-Moore Post No. 61 of the American Legion of Ida Grove, Iowa. Private Family Inurnment will be held in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the family present from 6:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m., on Friday November 6, 2015 at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Bill was born on December 14, 1956, in Waukon, Iowa, to James and Margaret (Stehr) Carnine.
Bill grew up near New Albin, Iowa, where he attended elementary school. In 1967 Bill and his family relocated to Storm Lake, Iowa where he continued his education. Bill enlisted into the United States Army and was put into Active Duty on April 24, 1975, where he was stationed in Germany for three of those years. Bill was honorably discharged on November 15, 1979.
After his service to his country, Bill returned home to Storm Lake, Iowa, and went to work at Ernie’s Feed and Field. Bill met the love of his life Kim Ehler and the couple were united into marriage on June 21, 1980, at the Saint Paul Lutheran Church of Holstein, Iowa.
In the early 80’s, Bill started his career in power line construction and started with Nelson Electric. Bill and Kim made their home in Storm Lake, Iowa, where the couple were blessed with a son they named Billy.
While working for Nelson Electric in Darlington, Wisconsin, Bill was given the job opportunity to start working for Grant Lafayette REC. Bill worked away from home until 1990 when the family moved to Ida Grove, Iowa. Bill went to work for North West REC until his retirement in 2011.
Bill enjoyed staying busy and started driving semi, hauling recycling for Holstein Sanitation where he was employed up to the present day.
Bill was elected as an Ida Grove City Councilman on September 5 of 2000 where he was still currently serving and was up for re-election. He was a member of the McNamara - Moore Post No. 61, the American Legion and St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Bill was also a retired Ida Grove Fire Fighter. He enjoyed gardening, working in his yard, tinkering in the garage and spending time with his family. Bill will be remembered for his kindness and willingness to always lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Margaret Carnine , an infant sister, Dawn Carnine, and sister-in-law Deb Carnine.
Left to cherish Bill’s memory is his loving wife of 35 years Kim Carnine of Ida Grove, Iowa; son, Billy (Laura) Carnine of Arthur, Iowa; brother, Clark Carnine of Ida Grove, Iowa; sister, Zona (Brad) Wetherell of Merrill, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Dave (Judy) Ehler of Holstein, Iowa, and Dan (Mindy) Ehler of Laurie, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Terri (John) Georg of Holstein, Iowa and Suzie (Scott) Hurley of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
