Minnie Ann (Greenwald) Ranney, age 79, of Battle Creek, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the Willow Dale Wellness Village of Battle Creek, Iowa.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 02, 2016 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. The Reverend Richard A. Salcido will officiate. Burial will follow in the Crawford Heights Memory Gardens of Denison, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 01, 2016, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home, of Ida Grove, Iowa. Minnie Ann (Greenwald) Ranney was born in Ida Grove, Iowa on August 1, 1936, to Hans and Gertrude “Gertie” (Dadt) Greenwald.
Growing up in Ida Grove, Minnie Ann attended school and graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1955. Minnie Ann entered into marriage to Leonard A. Ranney, Jr. from Cherokee, Iowa, on August 12, 1955.
Traveling to where her husband Leonard was stationed with the United States Air Force. Minnie Ann went overseas to Germany and Turkey and then settled in Texas. The couple relocated back to Ida Grove, Iowa in 1984.
Minnie Ann was active in her community. She belonged to the Ida County Sheep Producers, American Legion Post No. 61 (Minnie was honored with a service award from the ninth district for her contributions to the Legion). She was a member of Ladies Aid at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa, and served on the Morningside Care Center Auxiliary.
She loved volunteering, quilting lap blankets for the VA, gardening, tending to her animals, trips to the casino, and embroidery.
Minnie Ann is survived by her brother, Harold (Margarett Mae) Greenwald of Ida Grove, Iowa; nieces and nephews, Jesse Greenwald of Yankton, South Dakota, Ange (Steve) Johnson of Ida Grove, Iowa, Jay Greenwald of Ida Grove, Iowa, Hans (Beth) Greenwald of Ida Grove, Iowa, Jamie Greenwald of Omaha, Nebraska, sister-in-law, Coleen Russell of Ida Grove, Iowa and extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Leonard, brothers, Floyd Greenwald and Merle Dean Greenwald.
