Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Pastor Shari O’Bannon and Rev. Kevin J. Freese will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home, of Ida Grove, Iowa. Diane Faye Alborn was born on August 11, 1943, to Richard and Doris (Hendrickson) Klaver. She was later adopted by Bernard Klaver. Growing up in Kamrar, Iowa, Diane graduated from Blairsburg High School with the class of 1962. After high school Diane continued her education with two years of Personal Training in Omaha, Nebraska.
Diane settled in Odebolt, Iowa, in 1969 with her family. They relocated to Ida Grove, Iowa in 1979. She was employed at Penny’s Studio in Ida Grove before going to work for the City of Ida Grove. On December 28, 1985, she entered into marriage with Robert Joel Alborn at home in Ida Grove. After 34 years of service to the city, she retired in 2007.
Active in her community, Diane was a faithful member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church. She served as a past president of the Jayceette’s Club. She belonged to Kiwanis, Chamber of Commerce, and the Toastmaster’s Club. She helped with Simpco, Ida County Economic Development and setting up the Dollars for Scholars programs with Whitey Thompson. Diane enjoyed taking care of her flowers, tending her vegetable garden, cooking and being a gracious hostess while entertaining in her home. She treasured spending time with her family, friends and neighbors.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Robert J. “Bob” Alborn of Ida Grove, Iowa; children, Kurt Campbell of Yankton, South Dakota, Kasandra (Larry) Johnk of Ida Grove, Iowa, Kristopher (Becky) Campbell of Sioux City, Iowa, Stephen (Julie) Campbell of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Tamara (Glen) Scholton of Hull, Iowa, Roberta (Kevin) Massmann of Paulina, Iowa, and Rebecca (Keith) Enger of Sanborn, Iowa; twenty three grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; sisters, Pamela Sheehan of Des Moines, Iowa, Carmen Klaver of Waukee, Iowa, and Gretchen (Don) Bailey of Waukee, Iowa; and numerous extended family and friends.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Richard, Bernard and Doris Klaver and three grandsons.
