Helen Marie Weeber, age 101, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away Sunday, January 15, 2017 at the Morningside Healthcare Community of Ida Grove, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. The Reverend Chad Lierman will officiate, interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery of Sac City, Iowa. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 21, 2017 at the First United Methodist Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Helen Marie Weeber was called to her heavenly home on January 15, 2017. Helen was born on July 11, 1915 to Reuben and Maggie (Lewis) Bruner in Sac City, IA. She was raised and baptized in the Christian Church.

Helen and Benny were married on May 19, 1940 and were blessed with two daughters, Patty and Peggy. They owned Benny’s Eat Shop in Sac City before moving to Carroll where they purchased the City Hotel. In 1955 they purchased the Baxter Hotel where they lived until they sold it in 1978. They retired in Ida Grove where they lived out their lives.

Helen was active in the Methodist Church, holding many offices. She was a volunteer for the Reach Out Program for many years. Helen loved to entertain and serve meals to her friends and family. She remained very active until her health started to fail. Helen was able to travel and spend time with many dear friends. She had a life well lived.

Helen loved the Lord and served Him by loving and caring for others. She would want all of us with her in heaven, by believing in Jesus and His gift of dying for our sins and rising again to eternity, that we too will have the promise of eternal life with our Triune God. Therefore, we are not mourning a death, but celebrating the victory given to Helen by the grace of our loving God.

Those celebrating her victory are her two daughters and son-in-law, Patty Nelson, Peggy and Don Wunschel. Helen’s Grandchildren and their families, Kriss (Pat) Phillips and their children Autumne (Phil) Ryan, MaTrasa (Bret) Maae, and Benton; Matt (Chris) Wunschel and their children and grandsons Brittany (Mark) Rogers (Colten and Gavin) and Stefan; Donavon (Chris) and their children Ashely, Ashton, and Erica, and her many nieces, nephews and their families.

Going on before Helen was her husband, Benny and his son, Wayne. Preceding her passing were Helen and Benny’s parents, sisters, brother and their spouses, along with several nieces, a nephew and a great nephew. Many of Helen’s dear friends had gone on before her and we are grateful to know she is at peace and surrounded by so many loved ones.
