David Allen Engelking, age 66, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at the Creighton University Medical Center of Omaha, Nebraska.
A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017 at the Mount Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek, Iowa. The Reverend Kevin J. Freese will officiate. No visitation will be held. David A. Engelking the son of Dick and Elsie (Schiernbeck) Engelking was born on February 2, 1951 in Battle Creek, Iowa. He grew up in Battle Creek and enlisted into the Army National Guard serving his country in Iowa and Texas for six years.
David made his home in Battle Creek, Iowa, and worked at VT Industries in the counter top division until his health declined. He then relocated to Ida Grove, Iowa where he has resided until present.
David enjoyed collecting wolves and going fishing. In his younger years he loved going out dancing.
David was preceded in death by his parents Dick and Elsie Engelking and brothers, Dennis and Darwin Engelking. Left to cherish his memory are his sons, Allen Engelking of Dike, Iowa and Jason Engelking of Ida Grove, Iowa; three grandchildren: A.J., Tarra and Keith Engelking; brother, Darrell (Terri) Engelking of Battle Creek, Iowa; sister Darnelle (Edward) Maybe of Logan, Iowa; cousin, Donald (Dorothy) Engelking of Knoxville, Iowa; loyal companion dog Casper; four nephews and extended family and friends.
