In Memory of Robert "Bob" Schuldt
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017, at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Reverend Richard A. Salcido will officiate. Private Family Committal Services will be held at a later date in the Oakland Cemetery of Sac City, Iowa. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Robert (Bob) Gene Schuldt was born July 16, 1945, to Emil and Opal (McKee) Schuldt at St. Anthony Hospital in Carroll, IA. He grew up in Sac City and attended country school as well as attended Sac City Public School graduating with the class of 1964.
Bob joined the U.S. Army Reserves in July of 1964. He served with the Battery A 4th Battalion Artillery in Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri until September of 1969.
Bob married Marzella (Pudge) Greene on May 6, 1966, at the First Presbyterian Church in Sac City. They were blessed with two daughters Gina and Bridget. They made their home in Sac City until 1978 when they moved to Odebolt and Bob fulfilled his dream and opened his own grocery store “Bob’s Foodland”. Later Bob worked for Jim’s TV for several years until he became the manager of Casey’s in Odebolt. The couple would later part ways. In the late 90’s Bob began working at Food Pride as the night manager and then butcher before illness forced him to retire.
Bob was united in marriage to Rose Phillips on January 6, 2001, in Ida Grove, IA. To this union he gained four stepchildren Teresa, Amy, Philip and Curtis.
Bob enjoyed bowling and was so excited and proud when he bowled a perfect 300 game on March 30, 1995. His other passions included golf, gardening, fishing, watching the Minnesota Vikings and the Iowa Hawkeyes, art, his beloved dogs, and his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Rose and dog Buddy of Ida Grove, IA; daughters Gina Cougill of Sioux City, IA and Bridget (Mark) Drey of Ida Grove, IA; 7 grandchildren Brennan Cougill, Brady Van Dusen, Brooklyn Cougill, Ashley (Bryce) Wittrock, Austin (Karissa) Drey, Tyler (Kristyn) Drey and Tristin Drey; 4 great grandchildren Connor, Lilly and Liam Drey and Paisley Wittrock; stepchildren Teresa Gronwoldt of Seattle, WA, Amy (Jason Paseka) Sorensen of Omaha, NE, Philip Gronwoldt of Missouri and Curtis Stark of Council Bluffs, IA; 5 step grandchildren Zoe, Damien and Kylie Sorensen, Ness Paseka and Zachary Stark; sister-in-law Glendora Schuldt of West Des Moines, IA; many nieces and nephews.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Emil and Opal Schuldt; sister Deloris Stout; brother Lafoye Schuldt; nephew Steven Schuldt, in-laws Lester and Velma Phillips; and brother-in-law Bud Stout.
