In Memory of Dale Mohr

Dale Mohr, age 68, of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center of Des Moines, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Odebolt, Iowa. The Rev. David Viggers will officiate; with Committal Services following in the Odebolt Cemetery of Odebolt, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Friday, September 1, 2017, at the Christensen - Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa. Dale W. Mohr, the son of Wilbert and Marjorie (Kroeger) Mohr was born at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll, Iowa, on January 19, 1949. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in the Trinity Lutheran Church of Odebolt, IA, where he was a lifetime member.

Growing up on the family farm northwest of Odebolt, Dale was active in FFA, 4-H, and was a multiple letterman in numerous school sports (football being his favorite). Dale graduated with the class 1967 from Odebolt High School.

Dale’s love of football would take him to college at Buena Vista College in Storm Lake, IA, where he would play football….“Go Beavers”. During his college years, Dale would enlist into the Army National Guard and graduate from Buena Vista College in 1972, with a degree in Business and Physical Education.

On February 2, 1980, in the First Presbyterian Church of Odebolt, Dale married Ruth Ann Siebrecht and to this union a son, Darin was born. The family made their home in Odebolt.

Dale worked in agricultural related businesses. His most recent employment was at Vetter Equipment as a truck driver. Dale enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, the Chicago Cubs, Bears, and Bulls; the Iowa Hawkeyes, and had the pleasure of attending four NASCAR races.

Dale treasured being a grandfather to Addison and Alaina. He loved raising and showing sheep and had the opportunity to watch his legacy in his granddaughters as they entered the showring this year with their sheep.

Dale is survived by his wife of 37 years, Ruth Ann Mohr, son Darin (Tiffany) Mohr, grandchildren Addison and Alania Mohr, and mother Marjorie Mohr all of Odebolt, IA; brother Dean (Meri) Mohr of Waukee, IA and sister Jonette Lindberg; mother-in-law Mary Ann Siebrecht; brother-in-law Chuck (Pam) Lindberg of Odebolt, IA; three brothers-in-law Keith (Jill) Siebrecht, Gary (Karen) Siebrecht both of Odebolt, IA and Dale (Lisa) Siebrecht of Curlew, IA; seven nephews, two nieces; and extended family and friends.

Dale was preceded in death by his father Wilbert Mohr; father-in-law Lyle Siebrecht; and nephew Clint Siebrecht.
