In Memory of Rose Wonder
Rose Marie Wonder, age 80, of Carroll, Iowa, (formerly of Arnolds Park and Battle Creek, Iowa), passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018, at the Accura HealthCare of Carroll, Iowa.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Father Richard D. Ball will officiate; with Committal Services following in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, of Battle Creek, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a Rosary at 4:30 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 6:30 p.m., Friday, March 9, 2018 at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Rose Marie Wonder, the daughter of Albin and Mildred (McLarty) Kleine, was born on September 3, 1937. She grew up in Danbury, Iowa and graduated from Danbury Catholic High School with the class of 1955.
On April 21, 1956, Rose was united into marriage to Ronald Wonder in Sioux City, Iowa. The couple settled in Battle Creek, Iowa and raised their family. Rose worked as a nurse’s aide at the Hartley Memorial Hospital. She also worked as a teacher’s aide for Battle Creek Head Start and at the Battle Creek Elementary School.
Rose and Ronald also managed the Sunrise Campground in Storm Lake for five years in the early 1990’s. In 1996, they moved to Arnolds Park, Iowa, where she worked part-time in ticket sales at the amusement park. Upon retiring, the couple enjoyed wintering in Arizona for many years.
Rose was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed camping, living in the Lake Okoboji area, and taking convertible rides.
Left to cherish her memory are her children Ron (Linda) Wonder of Carroll, IA, Dennis (Mary) Wonder of Milford, IA, Sheila (Vince) Lansink of Rimrock, AZ; grandchildren Holly (Ted) Hoene of Rochester, MN, Danny Lansink of Rimrock, AZ, David (Sydney) Wonder of Spirit Lake, IA and Allison (Joel) Hike of West Des Moines, IA; great-grandchildren McKinley Hoene, Brody Lansink, Madelyn Hoene, Kendall Hoene, and Conor Hike; brother Kenneth Kleine of Fountain, CO; numerous extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Albin and Mildred Kleine; husband Ronald Wonder; infant daughter Debra; sister Marlene Kleine who passed at age three; brothers Robert, Richard, and Roger Kleine.
