Mary Susan Bourne, age 65, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 12, 2019, at her residence of Ida Grove, Iowa. No services at this time.  


Mary Susan Bourne, the daughter of Edward and Bonnie (Halmas) Cote, was born on December 8, 1953, in Dubuque, IA. She grew up in Fort Dodge, IA, were she waitressed, babysat, and worked for the local apple orchard.

On June 9, 1980, Mary married Steve Bourne and to this union a son was born Robert. The family lived in Lehigh, IA for six years and then relocated to Ida Grove, IA, in 2004. After Steve’s passing, Mary continued to live in Ida Grove up until present.  Mary’s favorite pastime was knitting.

She is survived by her son Robert Bourne of Laurens, IA; siblings Bill Cote of Ft. Dodge, IA, Kim Cote of Ft. Dodge, IA, Julie Blaha of Ft. Dodge, IA and Sharon Eckerman of West Des Moines, IA; grandchildren Caden and Carter Bourne of Ft. Dodge, IA; aunt Marian Hyde of Ft. Dodge, IA; cousin Vickie Hyde of Ft. Dodge, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended friends and family.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Bonnie Cote; husband Steve Bourne; and maternal grandparents.

“Only met Mary about six months ago when I moved back to Ida Grove and moved by her. She was always very friendly, alway offering to shave my head(like hers)😂😂. She loved animals and always had treats for peanut(my puppy). She will be missed. Fly high my friend. Judy Pluth”
