Born September 7, 1961, in Carroll, Iowa, Daniel Robert Schwaller was the son of Robert and Nacy (Lamaack) Schwaller. He grew up and received his education in Odebolt, graduating from Odebolt-Arthur Community Schools in 1981. Dan continued farming with his father west of Odebolt. In the early years he milked cows and continued raising stock cows, many of which became pets with the nurturing care he provided.

An avid Green Bay Packers fan, Dan also enjoyed cheering on the Sioux City Bandits, John Wayne westerns, and anything John Deere. He was always ready to lend a helping hand to neighbors and friends and was an active member of St. Martin’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Linda; two children, Clint Werkmeister and Amy Werkmeister, both of Odebolt; a brother, Douglas (Barb) Schwaller of Atlantic; three sisters, Theresa (Grant) Berglund of Omaha, NE, Elizabeth (Mike) Simon of Odebolt, and Marilyn (Keith) Carter of Holstein, many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and –nephews; other extended family members and friends; as well as his faithful dog, Buddy.
