In Memory of Perry J. Kuhl

Perry J. Kuhl, age 62, of Tea, South Dakota, passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the Dougherty Hospice House of Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Due to state and federal mandated guidance on gatherings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a Private Family Service will be held at Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, with Father Richard D. Ball officiating. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Christensen - Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Perry J. Kuhl was born on July 30, 1957, in Wakefield, NE. After a courageous long battle with lung cancer, Perry passed away on Wednesday, April 15, 2020.  

Perry grew up in Emerson, NE and graduated from Emerson High School with the class of 1976. On October 7, 1983, Perry married the love of his life Linda Rupert in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, IA.  The couple were blessed with three children: Dustin, Nicole, and Christopher.  Perry enjoyed being with his children and cherished every moment from childhood through adulthood. A devoted father, he helped with school projects, coaching their teams, swimming, golfing, or just hanging out and talking with them. Perry was defined as a family man and treasured spending time with his family and friends.

Often referred to as the walking encyclopedia, Perry loved being in the “know” in order to spark the art of conversation where every he went. He also was an avid Nebraska fan and liked going on the fan bus once a year to a football game to root on the Huskers.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Linda (Rupert) Kuhl of Tea, SD; children: Dustin Kuhl of Tea, SD, Nicole Koehlmoos of Eureka Springs, AK, and Christopher Kuhl of Norman, OK; grandson Aidyn Kuhl; extra special friends Matt and Leah Moe and their daughters Rease and Chelsi; brother Paul (Sandy) Kuhl of Cedar Rapids, IA; sisters Patty (Joe) Sautter of Council Bluffs, IA, Bonnie (Mark) Fegenbush of Whiting, IA and Linda Milliken of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law Jodean Grosebeck of Yukon, OK; brother-in-law Roderick “Rowdy” (Stacey) Rupert of Parkers Prairie, MN;  mother-in-law Janice Rupert of Ida Grove, IA; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Perry was preceded in death by his parents William “Bill” and Frances (Cadwallader) Kuhl; father-in-law Merle Rupert; and brother-in-law Raymond Rupert.
