Allen W. Hedberg, age 53, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek, Iowa. Rev. Kevin J. Freese will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek, Iowa. A Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the Memorial Service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at the First Presbyterian Church of Battle Creek, Iowa.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, masks are encouraged and social distancing rules apply. The Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa, is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Condolences may be sent online at www.christensenvanhouten.com

     Allen Wayne “Al” Hedberg was born on May 17, 1967, to Edward and Janice Hedberg, in Ida Grove, IA.

     Al has always had a love for fast cars, motorcycles, and back roads! He enjoyed driving truck in his earlier years and was a very dependable driver for many.  Al was very talented at building things from the ground up and always liked being busy; whether it was jobs like helping his parents on the farm, yardwork or helping his buddies with different projects. He gave his all in everything he did. Al always looked for the good in people and was known to give second chances to everyone, especially his family.

    With his contagious laugh and sense of humor, Al could brighten up a room. He enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage and spending time with his family and friends. 

     Left to cherish his memories include his children Miranda Hedberg of Holstein, IA, Emily Hedberg of Cherokee, IA, Mike Grimes of Carroll, IA, Donnie Grimes of Holstein, IA, Crystal (Brad) Minor of Battle Creek, IA and Steven Ernst of Elkins, WV and 5 grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers: Edwin Hedberg of Sioux City, IA and Glen (Jennifer) Hedberg of Roseberg, OR; sister Shawn (Jeff) Gorsett of Sioux City, IA; special friend Jodie Brown; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

     Al was preceded in death by is his parents Jan and Ed Hedberg; sister Judy Boysen; and his best friend Darren Minor.
