In Memory of Curt Sahl

Curt Sahl, age 62, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation prior from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Monday, July 26, 2021, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa.  Rev. Richard A. Salcido will officiate.

Curt Sahl, the son of Elmer and Ruby (Christiansen) Sahl, was born on March 2, 1959, in Ida Grove, Iowa. Curt was a life time resident of Ida Grove where he attended and graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1977.

After high school, Curt began his construction career with Sheer Construction. He met the love of his life Kim Bauer and the couple were united in marriage on May 7, 1982, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple made their home in Ida Grove and were blessed with two children Sarah and C. J.

In 1986, Curt began his career with Godbersen Smith Construction and remained with the company for over 35 years until present. Curt had a passion for wildlife and conservation. He was a member of Pheasants Forever, The National Wild Turkey Federation and White Tails Unlimited. He enjoyed fishing excursions to Canada, North and South Dakota, and the Lake of the Woods in Minnesota.  He also enjoyed hunting, spending time with family and friends, playing cards, board games, reading, watching NASCAR, and was an avid Iowa sports fan. Curt was a devoted husband, father, brother, and a loyal friend to many.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 39 years, Kim Sahl of Ida Grove, IA; children Sarah Sahl of Ankeny, IA and C. J. Sahl of Ida Grove, IA; siblings Vicki (Darrell) Madsen of Columbia, MO, Kristine (Michael) Drouilhet of Carlsbad, CA, Alan (Jami) Sahl of Tualatin, OR; and Brian (Lesa) Sahl of Arthur, IA; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Curt was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Ruby Sahl.
