In Memory of Phyllis J. Freed

Phyllis J. Freed, age 74, of Holstein, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the MercyOne Medical Center of Sioux City Iowa.

Private Graveside Services will be held in the Highland Cemetery of Des Moines, Iowa.

Phyllis Jean Freed, the daughter of Gilbert and Betty (Whited), was born February 26, 1947, in Battle Creek, Iowa. 

In 1983, Phyllis was united in marriage to Alva “Buddy” Freed. The couple shared 15 wonderful years together until Buddy’s passing in 1998. Phyllis continued to make her home in the Des Moines, Iowa, area for 38 years, where she was employed as a cook and dishwasher for various businesses.

Phyllis loved watching John Wayne movies, completing search-a-word puzzles, and playing solitaire. She enjoyed visiting with friends and spending time with family.

Left to cherish her memory include her sisters Dorothy M. Ruser of Schleswig, IA and JoAnn Wilwerding of Omaha, NE; nieces Kelly, Karlon and Tess; as well as extended family and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents Gilbert Boysen and Betty Dethlefsen; siblings Curtis and Janice; brothers-in-law Daniel Ruser and LeRoy Wilwerding.
