Janice Elaine Grissom, the daughter of Juan W. and Mildred J. (Wilks) Boothe, was born on April 7, 1939, in Harrisonburg, Louisiana. While growing up, Janice was a faithful and devoted member of the Rawson Creek Pentecostal Church where she was actively involved and helped teach Sunday School. She received her education at Enterprise High School in Enterprise, LA and after high school Janice attended business school.

On June 6, 1958, Janice was united in marriage to Roy C. Grissom in her parent’s living room in Harrisburg, LA. The couple was blessed with three children: Pamela, Gregory and Douglas. The family made their home in Texas where Janice was employed at Oshburn’s Sporting Goods for a few years. She left the workforce and decided to be a homemaker raising her children and later helping with her grandchildren. Janice and Roy lived in Texas for many years before moving to Ida Grove, Iowa, in the 1990’s upon their retirement to be closer to family.

Janice enjoyed crocheting, putting puzzles together, coloring, listening to church or gospel music, and playing the piano. She treasured time spent with her family; whether it was helping raise her siblings when she was younger or eventually spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as the “Queen of Nursery Rhymes” by her family as she had them all memorized. There was no stranger to Janice. She had an unconditional love for everyone she met or came in contact with. Janice will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her.

Left to cherish her memory include her daughter-in-law Debra (Mike) Reed of Ida Grove, IA; grandchildren Douglas Gace of Lake City, IA, Heidi Nelson of Altoona, IA, Crystal (Pat) Gace of Denison, IA, Tabatha (Long) Li of Denison, IA and Brittany (Joe) Grissom of Kiron, IA; great-grandchildren Johnathan, Davin, Mariah, Nathan, Hayden, Lina and Owen; great-great granddaughter Layla; brothers Joel (Linda) Boothe of DeVille, LA and Carl (Shirley) Boothe of Raleigh, MS; sisters Joann (Charles) Nugent of Lake Charles, LA, Caroline (Eugene) Craft of DeRidder, LA and Pamela (Wayne) Stockwell of Oviedo, FL; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roy Grissom; sons Gregory and Douglas Grissom; daughter Pamela Grissom; and three nephews.
