David A. Grau, age 70, of Battle Creek, Iowa, (formerly of Denison, Iowa) passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023, at the UnityPoint-Health St. Lukes Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.

A private family graveside will be held with Pastor Merle F. Mahnken officiating in the Morgan Township Cemetery of Schleswig, Iowa.

David A. Grau, age 70 of Battle Creek, Iowa, formerly of Denison Iowa, was called home to his Savior on June 14, 2023.   

Born on December 30, 1952, in Denison, Iowa, David was the son of Alfred and JoAnn (Roennau) Grau. He grew up in the Denison area and graduated from Denison High School with the class of 1971. 

David was united in marriage to LaRae Burk and to this union two daughter were born: Erin and Marcy. The couple later parted ways.

Most recently David worked at GOMACO of Ida Grove, Iowa, as a welder. He was a known perfectionist when it came to welding. David also liked sports and was an avid Bronco’s fan. 

Survivors include his daughters Erin (Mike) Parkinson, Marcy (Todd) Versteeg all of Sioux Falls, SD; three grandchildren; siblings: Dawn Jessen of Denison, IA, Doug (Lauri) Grau of Vienna, VA, Randy (Susan) Grau of San Diego, CA and Donovan (Susan) Grau of Sioux City, IA; nine nieces and nephews; and extended family and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and JoAnn Grau.
