Ellen “Kitty” (Wilken) Weisz, age 90, of Naperville, Illinois (formerly of Battle Creek, Iowa) passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Sunrise Senior Living of Naperville, Illinois.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Battle Creek, Iowa. Rev. Randy D. Cormeny will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek, Iowa.

A Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Battle Creek, Iowa.

Ellen “Kitty” (Wilken) Weisz passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at Sunrise Senior of Naperville, Illinois. She just celebrated her 90th birthday on February 4, 2024, with a wonderful party. Ellen will be laid to rest at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Battle Creek, Iowa, nearby to her mother (Alvina), father (Henry), and brother (Robert).

Ellen May Wilken was born on February 4, 1934, in Battle Creek, Iowa. While growing up on the family farm, she attended Battle Township #8 Country School and Battle Creek Ida Grove High School in Battle Creek. Ellen enlisted in the United States Air Force after high school graduation in 1952.

She was baptized at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek. She had a strong faith and was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Hinsdale, Illinois. Ellen was blessed with three children: Lee, Melanie, and Wynter. She was blessed with eight grandchildren: Jason, Mark, Jacob, Trenton, Kayla, Wilken, Logan, and Ethan. Ellen also had six great-grandchildren. Ellen’s dedication to her family was evident in everything she did; she cherished her family more than anything.

Ellen enjoyed various hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She loved traveling, playing cards and collecting perfin stamps.
