In Memory of Marian Stevenson

Marian Stevenson, age 86, of Clive, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2024, with her daughters by her side.

A private family graveside service will be held at the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa, at a later date.

Honoring Marian’s love of books and reading, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Spirit Lake Public Library (702 16th Street, Spirit Lake, Iowa 51360, Memorial Form).

Marian Elizabeth Stevenson, the daughter of Carl and Elvira (Schwenk) Neumann, was born on June 16, 1938, in Ida Grove, Iowa. She grew up in Ida Grove and graduated valedictorian of her class in 1956 from Ida Grove High School.  

Marian worked after high school, got married, and was blessed to have four children: David, Gaye Lynn (Phil), Keith, and Carol (Rick). She enjoyed gardening, and sewing, volunteered her time, and was active in the church.

In 1990 Marian graduated from Buena Vista University with a Master’s degree in Nursing Home Administration. She worked in several long-term care facilities in Iowa until she retired at her beloved lake home in Spirit Lake, Iowa. 

Her kids, four grandkids (Jessica, Andrew, Collin and Ben), and three great-grandkids (Emerson, Ginny and Rowan) were her pride and joy! Marian attended church regularly. Living life to the fullest, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends at the lake, traveling, playing games, reading and talking about books, going to the theater, and helping others. 

She touched the lives of many, and those family and dear friends will cherish her memory.  

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Keith Luft; and brother Leonard Neumann.
