Marzella “Marcie” Louise Schuldt, the third born of seven children born to John R. and Mary “Val” (Haas) Greene, was welcomed into the world on April 9, 1947, in Fort Dodge, IA. She entered into her heavenly home one day shy of her 78th birthday.

Growing up in a large family in Dakota City, IA, Marcie received her education in Humbolt, IA and graduated from Humbolt High School with the class of 1965. During her high school days, Marcie was employed at the local Muota Theater in Humbolt.

Marcie soon met the love of her life, Robert Schuldt, at the local bowling alley and the couple were married in Sac City, IA, on May 6, 1966. The couple settled in Sac City where they were both employed at the local grocery store. The couple were over the moon when they welcomed their daughters, Gina and Bridget, into the world.

In 1978 the family relocated to Odebolt, IA and with the purchase of one of the local grocery stores, Bob’s Foodland, the couple became owner and operators of a family-owned business. Marcie loved to cook and bake along with a love of being in the kitchen would spark a career with the local school as a cook. In 1998 Marcie and Robert went their separate ways. Marcie relocated to Holstein, IA, where she became employed with the Galva-Holstein Community Schools as a cook and then later promoted to Director of Food Service. After a long career in food service, Marcie hung up her apron and retired in 2010, and took on the full-time roll of grandma.

Marcie’s seven grandchildren were the apple of her eye. She enjoyed attending all of their activities and stayed busy keeping up with their day to day lives. Marcie was overjoyed and full of pride watching her family continue to grow, with welcoming the next generation of 13 great-grandchildren.

Cooking and baking were Marcie’s love language. An accomplished scratch cook, Marcie could always be found in the kitchen whipping up potato salads for weddings, anniversaries, holidays, and special occasions. You could smell her crispy fried potatoes from a room away and imagine the delectable pie or dessert that would follow the wonderful meal you were about to be served by one of the most gracious hostesses. During the holidays, family and friends always looked forward to a Marcie’s sweet treat.

In her younger years, Marcie was an avid bowler and loved bowling on her local ladies’ league, with the group accomplishment of a trip to the state bowling tournament. She also relished in a good game of cards. Marcie was a well-known card shark by her family and was always up for a hand or two. Later in life Marcie enjoyed trips to the casino, movies, and her all-time favorite Hallmark romances especially “When Calls the Heart”.

Marcie will be remembered for her heart of gold and willingness to help others. Marcie’ s life will continue to live on through her wonderful gift of tissue donation.
