Richard E. Sievers, age 79, of Wall Lake, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at the Twilight Acres Care Center of Wall Lake, Iowa. 

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa. Rev. Ken Miller will officiate. Military Rites will be conducted by the Roose Post No. 313 of the American Legion of Odebolt, Iowa. Committal Services will be held in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery of Charter Oak, Iowa.

A Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa.

Richard Edward Sievers, the son of Alfred C. and Wilma D (Goslar) Sievers, was born on December 4, 1945, in Ute, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Charter Oak, Iowa. Richard attended school in Charter Oak and Schleswig, Iowa, graduating from Schleswig High School with the class of 1963. He then enlisted in the U.S. Army Reserve and proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged.

Richard was a self-employed contractor most of his life. He enjoyed several hobbies including fishing, camping, visiting with people during coffee time, and especially gardening.

Remaining to cherish his memory include his daughter Shelly Sievers of Central Point, OR; stepsons Shannon Railsback of Odebolt, IA and Brandon Railsback of Ida Grove, IA; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; mother Wilma Sievers of Denison, IA; brother Mike (Susan) Sievers of Pleasant Hill, IA; sisters Arlis (Richard) Jones of California and Kay (Danny) Blunk of Kiron, IA; many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Sue Sievers; father Alfred Sievers; and sister Janet Jean Sievers (in infancy).
