Wayne and Ruby (Mauritz) Lindskoog welcomed their firstborn son, Dennis Allen, into the world on March 16, 1944 in Ida Grove, Iowa.  Soon after, they brought him home to the family farm just south of Odebolt, a place where Dennis’ roots would grow deep and strong, and where his life of purpose and faith would begin.

Dennis spent his childhood immersed in the rhythms of farm life, riding his bike down country hills to attend a nearby country school through the eighth grade. He found joy in music, basketball, FFA, and, above all, in the values instilled by his family and community. It was during these years that a local agriculture teacher planted the seeds of ambition in Dennis, encouraging him to dream big. These dreams would become his life’s work. He graduated with the Odebolt-Arthur High School Class of 1962, ready to turn those dreams into reality.

A true man of the land, Dennis began farming in 1961, focusing first on raising hogs before expanding into custom farming, trucking, seed sales, and rented ground, always innovating, always investing in the future. In 1970, he married the love of his life, Cynthia Ann Linman, at Bethel Lutheran Church in Kiron, Iowa. Together, they built a life rooted in love, hard work, and faith on his grandparents’ farm south of Odebolt. They were blessed with three children: Lori, Brett, and Jill, who would become his pride and joy.

Faith, family, farming and community were cornerstones of Dennis’ life. He served as a Township Trustee and a board member for the local Farm Bureau. At First Baptist Church in Kiron, he was a steadfast presence, serving as Trustee, Deacon, Church Chairman, and Usher. His faith journey began as a young boy, when he accepted Christ during Bible school at the Covenant Church in Odebolt, where he was baptized and confirmed. That foundation would carry him through every season of life.

Dennis had a contagious laugh and a zest for life that never dimmed. He embraced every day with gratitude, whether he was cheering on his grandchildren, catching up with friends in town, boating at Okoboji, or competing in tractor pulls with the camaraderie of fellow pullers. Above all, his favorite title was “Papa.”  With a soft chuckle and twinkle in his eye, he lovingly followed every story, game, and milestone his grandchildren shared.

Dennis Allen Lindskoog was a man of integrity, generosity, and quiet strength. He was a faithful servant, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and a friend to many. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Cynthia Lindskoog of Odebolt, IA; his children: Lori (Steve) Mattes of Newton, IA; Brett (Andra) Lindskoog of Odebolt, IA; and Jill (Paul) Fox of Shakopee, MN; his cherished grandchildren: Adam, Caleb, Micah, Brennan, Brynn, Blaire, Alec, Greyson, and Thia Ruby. Also surviving are his sister Marlys (Mark) Conner of Glidden, IA; his mother-in-law Virginia Linman of Ida Grove, IA; his brother-in-law Doug (Vickie) Linman of Odebolt, IA; and many extended family members and friends.

Welcoming him into eternal life are his parents, Wayne and Ruby Lindskoog, and his father-in-law, Burnelle Linman.

“We are saddened to hear of Dennis's passing. Our condolences to Cynthia, the kids and all of his family. I always enjoyed conversations with Dennis about cars, tractors, farm ground and the season of farming that we were in. It was easy to admired Dennis for the way he carried himself, the respect that he showed others, and how he was such a great steward of everything he came in contact with. The Odebolt/Kiron area has lost a "class act" community member. May he walk with our Lord and continue to watch over those he loved.”
