In Memory of Herman Sorensen
Herman Junior Sorensen, age 92, of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at the Willow Dale Wellness Village of Battle Creek, Iowa.
Per Herman’s wishes, no services will be held.

Herman Junior Sorensen, the son of Pearl (Miller) and Herman D. Sorensen, Sr., was born on July 7, 1933, in Odebolt, Iowa. He grew up in Odebolt and received his education from the Odebolt Community School District.
In 1953 Herman enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country. Upon his honorable discharge in 1955, he temporarily made his home in Providence, Rhode Island, while he learned the trade of upholstery. He then returned to Odebolt and on July 17, 1959, he was united in marriage to Lois Wilcox. The couple was blessed with four children: Randy, Eugene “Gene”, John, and Diane.
Herman worked various jobs during his life. He was a custodian at the Odebolt-Arthur Community School District, owned and operated Herm’s Modern Upholstery, and worked at GOMACO. In his spare time, Herman enjoyed gardening, helping Lois tend to her flowers, woodworking and completing crafts, camping, and sitting on his front porch watching and waving to the traffic. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.
Left to cherish his memory include his children Diane (Kenny) Wiegel of Ida Grove, IA and Randy (Celia) Sorensen of Charles City, IA; sisters-in-law Margaret Sorensen of Odebolt, IA and Diane Sorensen of Providence, RI; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Pearl and Herman D. Sorensen, Sr.; wife Lois Sorensen; sons Eugene and John Sorensen; brothers Murl (Rita), LeRoy, Kenny (Jackie), Pat, Donnie, and Herb (Mary) Sorensen.
