Rogers Dean Aneweer was born on September 8, 1935, in Shell Rock, Iowa, to Herman and Harriet Bertha (Wentworth) Aneweer and several siblings. His father was a mechanic; his mother, a housewife. His siblings included: Dorothy Mae, Lawrence Burdette, Wentworth, Raymond Earl, Jerry Lee, and Robert Herman. Following Rogers’ birth came James Ellis, David O., and Bonnie Lou, for a total of ten children. With his family, Rogers grew up in the Waverly, Iowa, area and attended the Janesville Rural School.

For several years, Rogers was a commercial hauler for, and eventually retired from, Waterloo Industries in Waterloo, Iowa. One night at the Electric Park Dance Hall in Waterloo, Rogers met the love of his life, Anna Mae Werkmeister, a small-town girl that shimmied her way into his heart. On May 27, 1966, these two love-birds married in the Little Brown Church of Nashua, Iowa. Although they originally created a home in Cedar Falls, Iowa, their decision in February of 1997 to relocate found them careening through a snow and ice storm in a U-Haul truck, relocating closer to Anna Mae’s family in Odebolt, Iowa.

Rogers enjoyed fishing, camping, playing cards, dancing with his sweetheart, and tinkering with small engines. In his retirement, Rogers created a small business repairing and reselling used lawn mowers while he developed a kinship with his neighbors and community.

Left to cherish his memory are sister-in-law Phyllis Kluver of Kiron, IA; cousins Mary Ann Henry of Cedar Falls, IA and Larry (Nadine) Werkmeister of Cedar Falls, IA; several nieces and nephews; and many friends and neighbors.

Rogers was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Anna Mae; and his sister Bonnie Lou.

“So sorry to Rogers family and all his "Buddies", I miss going to work now, I always looked forward to seeing his face, Some days we would just make goofy faces at each other, and then he would tell me about his night!! Some how we just connected, and I enjoyed every one of his moods. He was very special to me, and I will miss him. ”
