Richard “Dick” J. Dudding, age 79, of Battle Creek, Iowa passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015 at Willow Dale Wellness Village of Battle Creek, Iowa.
Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, March 21, 2015, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Father Richard D. Ball will officiate. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 20, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Christensen - Van Houten Funeral Home of Battle Creek, Iowa. Richard “Dick” John Dudding was born on April 5, 1935 in Bancroft, Iowa, to McClellan and Oda (Menke) Dudding.
Dick graduated from St. John’s Catholic School. He entered the family trucking business with his dad and brothers, later becoming one of the modern day cattle industries most respected pioneers, helping pave the way in the Southwest Beef Processing Growth, with the leaders such as IBP and Head of Procurement for National Beef in Liberal. His name will rank up there with the rest of the greats that built an industry.
Dick married Sherry (Johnson) Kuchenreuther and together they raised six children. He later married Jeanette Stout and enjoyed the time spent with her children and their families. Jeanette passed away in a car accident in 2009.
Dick was a practical joker with a great sense of humor. No matter where he lived he made friends easily. He was a caring and giving man who went out of his way to help others.
He will be missed by his children: Pam (Denny) Brainerd, Vicki (Byron) Dausel, Teri (Bruce) Brock, Cindy (Terry) Bloomquist, Bobby (Brandy) Stout, Dan Stout, Cherie (Gene) Davis, Cindy Gilmore; thirty-three grandchildren & twenty-five great grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way; brother, Bill Dudding; sisters, Marge Williams and Pat (Jack) Schiltz; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Dick was welcomed into his heavenly home by his parents, wife, Jeanette; brothers, Jack, Don, and Kenneth; sons, Scott Kuchenreuther Dudding and Mark Dudding; great grandson, Shane Patrick Alan Brainerd.
