Beverly A. Whitney passed on to be with the Lord on July 27, 2015. She spent the last five years with her sons in the Omaha area. She lived a full life of devotion to her husband, her children and grandchildren.
Beverly was born on October 1, 1929 in Leigh, Iowa. Beverly grew up with her parents, Agnes and Deno Castagnoli in Fort Dodge, Iowa and received her education at Fort Dodge High School. It was there that she met the love of her life, Clay Whitney. Clay was attending Jr. College in Fort Dodge and after Bev’s graduation from high school and a six month courtship, they were married on July 1, 1948. To this union five sons were born: Rick, Rock, Rory, Rand, and Rodd.
The family moved to Ida Grove in 1958 and raised their family on an acreage east of Ida Grove. Bev worked at Dr. Stine’s office for many years and spent many hours attending her son’s sporting events and of course, attending the many livestock shows the boys participated in. The Whitney family was a regular at the Ida County Fair and State Fair, Bev was always in the stands cheering on her sons. She also had the opportunity to see many of her grandchildren show sheep at the Ida County Fair.
She was a 53 year member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church and a member of the sacred Heart Alter Society. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending many winters in Arizona, sewing, baking and spending time with her family and 19 grandchildren.
Beverly is survived by her sons, Rick (Neva) Whitney of Stillwater, OK; Rory (Kathryn) Whitney of Omaha, NE; Rand (Anita) Whitney of Ida Grove, Iowa; and Rodd (Melissa) of Omaha, NE; 18 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren; sister, Rosemary (Jans) Janssen of Prescott, AZ; sister-in-law, Wanda (Murl) Whatoff of Ames Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clay (1998); son, Rock; infant daughter, Rene; and grandson, Jordan.
