In Memory of Ronald A. "Ron" Murr
Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Odebolt Cemetery of Odebolt, Iowa. The Reverend Richard A. Salcido will officiate. Inurnment will follow in the Odebolt Cemetery of Odebolt, Iowa. The Christensen - Van Houten Funeral Home of Odebolt, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements. Ronald Arthur Murr was born on May 27, 1939, at his home in Odebolt, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Rose (Werkmeister) Murr. Ron grew up and received his education in Odebolt. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard.
On January 14, 1970, Ron entered into marriage to Bernice Arlene Johnson in Freemont, Nebraska. The couple settled down and their home in Odebolt, Iowa. Ron and Bernice were blessed with 46 years of marriage. Before going to work for I.B.P., Ron did carpentry and plumbing. He was employed for thirty plus years with I.B.P. in Denison, Iowa, before retiring.
Ron loved the great outdoors. He loved to hunt, fish and garden. He enjoyed his dogs and baking. His family will miss his delicious chocolate chip cookies.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Bernice Murr of Odebolt, Iowa; children, Rhonda Murr of Davenport, Iowa, Cory Murr of Odebolt, Iowa, and Kimberly Murr of Odebolt, Iowa; four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Mary) Murr of Corning, Missouri; sisters, Delores Sprouse of Aurelia and Barbara (Dick) Glau of Lake View, Iowa; and extended family and friends.
Ron was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, daughter, Sonya Murr; brother, Donald Murr and sister, Fayetta Konradi.
