Scott D. Mandernach, age 43, of Odebolt, Iowa, died Friday, February 8, 2013, of injuries sustained in a snowmobiling accident in Cornucopia, Wisconsin.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church in Odebolt, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes.  The Reverend Trish Underberg will officiate, with burial to follow in the Odebolt Cemetery.  Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 4-8 p.m., with the family present from 6-8 p.m.
Born on his paternal grandparents’ 27th wedding anniversary, July 21, 1969, Scott Dennis Mandernach was the son of Dennis Don and Toni Raye (Wallace) Mandernach.  He grew up and received his education in Odebolt, graduating from Odebolt-Arthur High School in 1988, then studied elevator management at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
On August 6, 1993, Scott married his “little sweetheart,” Mindi Lovett, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ida Grove, Iowa.  Three children, Karlie, Clayton, and Kacie, were born to this union.  With Mindi by his side as a full partner, Scott farmed and trucked in the Odebolt area and was a Latham seed corn dealer.  Farming was not simply a job to Scott, it was his passion.  He was dedicated to working the land and often placed custom farming jobs ahead of his own.  Scott will be remembered as a big man with an even bigger heart.
A member of Faith Lutheran Church in Odebolt, Scott served as a 4-H leader and participated in the Sac County fair.  He enjoyed helping his kids with their 4-H projects, especially guiding them to raise their baby calves.  His new shih tzu puppy, Rocky, brought him much delight.
Among his favorite activities were camping, motorcycling, snowmobiling, golfing, and NASCAR racing.  Most of all, Scott loved his wife, Mindi, and their three children.  He loved life and had a knack for making even the worse chores fun.  He was passionate about whatever project he undertook and was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Survivors include his wife, Mindi; three children, Karlie, Clayton, and Kacie, all at home; his mother, Toni (Dennis) Werner of Chambers, NE; his father, Dennis (Diann) Mandernach of Galva; a sister, Kristy Rosemeyer and special friend Paul Arbegast of Arthur and her children Leah Carlson and special friend Dustin of Iowa City, Brianna (Ben) Butcher and son Beau of Holstein, and Royce Rosemeyer, at home; a brother, Trevor (Robin) Mandernach of Vermillion, SD and their children Lauren and Caiden; as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other extended family members.  He is also survived by his father-in-law, Terry Lovett of Ida Grove; a sister-in-law, Kelli (Mike) Flemming of Vermillion, SD and children Austin and Alexis; and his grandparents-in-law, Bob and Roma Lovett, and Virginia Jensen, all of Ida Grove.
Scott was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Bill and Gloria Wallace; his paternal grandparents, Donald and Myrtle Mandernach; and his mother-in-law, Marilyn Lovett.
