Lorraine L. Horstman the daughter of Frank and Amanda (Schumacher) Negless was born on February 15, 1926, in Cushing, Iowa.  She grew up on a farm in northwest, Iowa, attended school and graduated from Galva High School.

After graduation, Lorraine taught country school.  On December 26, 1945, Lorraine married the love of her life Fred Horstman. To this union seven children were born: Sharon, Theresa, Myrna, Marty, Connie, Shelia, and Reggie.

Lorraine had a very close relationship with her sister Jean. It can be fondly remembered that they did everything together.  Lorraine was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and took time out of her day to teach catechism.

She enjoyed paying a visit to shut ins and nursing homes, cooking, and playing BINGO in her later years.

Lorraine treasured her walks and picnics in the park with her husband Freddie.  She held her family close to her heart and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon Sanford of Sioux City, Iowa, Theresa Uhl of Sioux City, Iowa, Myrna (Robert) Uhl of Battle Creek, Iowa, Marty (Ann) Horstman of Battle Creek, Iowa,  Connie Horstman of Algona, Iowa, Sheila (Ed) Ipsen of Branson, Missouri, and Reggie (Kelly) Horstman of Ida Grove, Iowa; thirty grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; brother, Gaylen (Rita) Negless of Anoka, Minnesota; sister, Darlene (Alvin) Segabart of Battle Creek, Iowa; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Amanda Negless; husband, Fred Horstman; grandson, Kory Uhl; sisters, Helen Negless, Elsie Sherrill, Frances Clausen, Naomi Nielsen, and Jean Steinbach; and brothers, La Vern Negless and Nemo Negless.

As cousins we never got to spend much time together in later years, but always remember the family reunions at the park in Holstein, Iowa. Always had around hundred in attendance and lots of good food. I am sure you hVe memories to cherish also. ”
