In Memory of Raymond W. Johnson

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at the St Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Reverend Randy Cormeny & Reverend Donald Winterrowd will officiate; with committal services following in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Christensen – Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Raymond Wayne Johnson was born June 13, 1927 to Harry and Beatrice (Hare) Johnson in Battle Creek, Iowa. He attended country school and graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1945.

                On August 6, 1950, Raymond was united in marriage to Lorraine Joyce Feddersen in Ida Grove, Iowa.  Raymond was a long time farmer in the Battle Creek area. After retirement he worked part time for Rich’s Foodtown in Battle Creek and for the City of Battle Creek. He was an active member in the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Battle Creek and for many years was the President of the Cemetery Board. Raymond enjoyed working with other area farmers and helping people in the community.

                Survivors include his wife Lorraine of Ida Grove, their three children Mike (Mary Lou) Johnson of Dubuque, Iowa, Joleen (Rick) Anderson of Correctionville, Iowa and Marc (Lorraine) Johnson of Battle Creek, Iowa: six grandchildren Shad Johnson (special friend Brooke), Seth (Cara) Johnson, Casey (Abby) Johnson, Calli Johnson (special friend Darrell), Jerrod (Allissa) Johnson and Jason (Lauren) Johnson.; nine great grandchildren Carter, Eli, and Logan Johnson, Peyton, Cameron, and Emery Johnson, Miles and Ella Johnson, and Jaxson Johnson; Sister-in-laws Pauline Feddersen of Anthon, Iowa, Dorothy Feddersen of Battle Creek, Iowa and Joan Smith of Storm Lake, Iowa.

                He was preceded in death by his parents, infant grandson Chad Michael Johnson and sisters Florence Nielsen (brother-in-law Wilfred & Lucille (Hare) Nielsen), Marion (Howard) Smith, and Doris (Reuben) Smith; brothers-in-law Raymond Feddersen, William Feddersen, Lester (Maxine) Feddersen, Herman Feddersen, Kenneth Feddersen, Ross Feddersen, Robert (Pauline) Feddersen, Eugene Feddersen, and Frank Smith; sisters-in-law Hazel (Buford) Ashby, Viola (Ray) Coon, Helene (Jack Savage 1976, John McDermott) McDermott, Phyllis (Kenny) Luce.
