In Memory of Margaret M. Meyer
Margaret Meyer, age 102, of Sac City, Iowa, died Monday, April 15, 2013, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City, Iowa, under the direction of Christensen-Huffman Funeral Homes. The Reverend Don Pobanz will officiate, with burial to follow in Wall Lake Cemetery, Wall Lake, Iowa. Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to services.
Born March 8, 1911, in Lake View, Iowa, Margaret Mae Meyer was the daughter of Abraham and Mary (Meyer) Schulte. She was baptized on July 29, 1923, and was confirmed in her faith on November 30, 1930. Margaret attended Wall Lake country schools and helped on the farm after her father’s death in 1937.
On October 15, 1940, she was united in marriage to Fike Meyer in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The couple lived and farmed near Sac City and Early. A true farmer's wife, Margaret worked alongside her husband and participated in all aspects of farm life. They retired in 1977, and made their home in Sac City.
Margaret was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Sac City. She and Fike made many happy memories together camping and fishing. Margaret gardened and especially loved tending her flowers.
Survivors include many nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Fike in 1980; three brothers, Charles Schulte, Arend Schulte, and George Schulte; two sisters, Mary Larson, and Kathryn Herrig; two nephews, Melvin Herrig and Eugene Schulte; and two great-nephews, Craig Herrig and Duane Herrig.
