Arnelda E. Schramm, the daughter of C.W. and Elizabeth (Shermer) Fink, was born on August 24, 1933, in Franklin County, Latimer, Iowa.
Arnelda grew up on the family farm south west of Latimer and graduated from Latimer High School. After high school, Arnelda worked as a clerk in a bank located in Hampton, Iowa. On June 18, 1955, Arnelda married the love of her life Winferd C. Schramm in the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Latimer, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm in Knoke, Iowa and began farming. Arnelda and Win were delighted in adopting two bundles of joy son Curtis and daughter Jolene.
In 1973, the family relocated to the town of Battle Creek, Iowa, where Win went to work for Jensen Feed and Implement. In her early years Arnelda sold AVON, was employed at VT Industries, and worked in the housekeeping department of Morningside Care Center.
Arnelda took great pride in home which was evident by her lovely holiday décor and the wonderful meals she served. She will be remembered for her famous warm chocolate chip cookies, and other delicious baked goodies. Arnelda had a gift for gardening which was apparent by her beautiful flowers and abundant vegetable garden. As her daughter would say “my mother had a green thumb, people would bring her a dead plant and she could bring it back to life again”. Arnelda treasured all of the small moments with her family and friends, and will be truly missed by all who knew her.
Arnelda was preceded in death by her parents C.W. and Elizabeth Fink; and brothers Verald Fink, and Marvin Fink.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband of 62 years Win Schramm of Battle Creek, IA; children Curtis (Rosland) Schramm of Battle Creek, IA and Jolene (Ross) Peffer of Cedar Rapids, IA; grandchildren Michael and William Eakens; great grandchild Shane Eakens; sister Elwilda (Carroll) Etchen of Clear Lake, IA; extended family and friends.
