Stanley Allen was born on April 18, 1927, at the farm house of his parents George E. and Effie Belle (Falconer) Allen of rural Early, Iowa. He was raised on the family farm and educated at Cook Township School #6. He graduated from 8th grade and went to work for his father and neighbors on their farms.
Stanley married Charlotte Rubendall of Sac City on December 13, 1945, in Sac City, Iowa. To this union two children were born, Steven and Sandra. Stanley farmed with his parents, and in 1954 purchased and moved to a farm near Odebolt, Iowa, where he resided until December 2015 when he moved to North Lake Manor and subsequently, Methodist Manor in Storm Lake, Iowa.
Stanley was actively involved in farming with his son Steve from 1976 until he retired in 1992. He was a member of the Odebolt United Methodist Church, serving on a number of committees and as a Sunday school teacher. Stanley was a charter member and first president of the Odebolt Saddle Club that was active in the 1960’s. He enjoyed sharing his love of horses and riding with Steve and Sandy. In the 1970s, he was a founding member and first president of Select Pork, Inc., a sow farrowing cooperative.
He delighted in the quality time he and Charlotte spent with Sandy as she chauffeured them to their grandchildren’s activities. Their grandchildren always made them so proud. Stanley always loved the kitchen table conversations with his daughter and her family. In his later years, Stanley enjoyed restoring antique tractors with his son and grandsons and doing projects with wood.
Stanley is survived by his son Steve (DeAnn) Allen of Early, Iowa; son-in-law Henry Horst of Lake View, Iowa; grandchildren, Stacey (Travis) Etchison of Des Moines, Iowa, Amy (Cary) Hock of Norwalk, Iowa, Eric (Nicole) Allen of Vinton, Iowa, and Greg (Katie) Allen of Vinton, Iowa; great-grandchildren, Leif, Olive and Elin Allen; numerous nephews, nieces, extended family and friends.
