In Memory of Suzanne P. Netherton

Suzanne P. Netherton, age 88, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018, at the Horn Memorial Hospital of Ida Grove, Iowa.

Suzanne P. Netherton, the daughter of Arthur and Leola (Oswald) Porter, was born on April 27, 1930, in Hinsdale, Illinois. She graduated from Hinsdale High School with the class of 1948 and continued her education at Iowa State College until she met her soon-to-be husband Ray “Ed” Netherton.

On November 1, 1952, Suzanne was married to Ray “Ed” Netherton in Hinsdale, Illinois.  The couple settled in Denver, Colorado and then moved numerous times following Ed’s career with the military and United Airlines.  They called Crystal Lake, Illinois home from 1973 on.  Suzanne and Ed were blessed with two sons, Bruce and Ray.

Suzanne worked as a bookkeeper for various businesses throughout her life while maintaining the family home. Ed passed away in December of 1992, and Suzanne continued to live in Crystal Lake, Illinois until 2015 when she relocated to Ida Grove, Iowa to be closer to her son and his family.

Suzanne treasured her German Shepherd dogs and enjoyed the company of family and good friends.

She is survived by her sons, Ray (Jackie) Netherton of Ida Grove, Iowa and Bruce (Dena) Netherton of Bellingham, Washington; grandchildren: Ian (Danielle) Netherton, Garrett (Carissa) Netherton, Kiri Netherton, Brianne (Michael) Ritchie, Bryce Davis, and Blake Netherton; eleven great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Suzanne was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Leola Porter; husband, Ray “Ed” Netherton; and brother, Bruce Porter.
