Arlene R. Mildenstein, age 90, of Battle Creek, Iowa passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019, at the Willow Dale Wellness Village of Battle Creek, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2019, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Battle Creek, Iowa. Rev. Duane C. Miesner, Rev. Marty Davis & Randy D. Cormeny will officiate. Committal will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery of Battle Creek, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2019, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Battle Creek, Iowa. The Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Battle Creek, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Arlene R. Mildenstein was born on November 23, 1928, in Holstein, Iowa, to Herman and Amanda (Logge) Libke. Arlene grew up in Holstein and after graduation she continued her education at Commercial Extension School of Business in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating with her Diploma.
After going on a blind date, Arlene met the love of her life Elvin Mildenstein. The couple were united in marriage on February 28, 1949, in the Methodist Church of Holstein. The couple settled on the family farm outside of Cushing, Iowa and welcomed a son Ron and a daughter Karen.
In 1960 the family relocated to their forever home in Battle Creek, Iowa. She was a faithful member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Battle Creek and active in the Ladies Aide. Arlene was also a member of the Auxiliary for ISI.
She enjoyed playing Bingo, embroidery, quilting and spending time with her family and friends. An avid reader, Arlene delighted in sitting down with a good book.
She is survived by her children Ron (Vicki) Mildenstein of Murrells Inlet, S.C. and Karen Bliss of Broken Arrow, OK; three grandchildren: Ryan Bliss, Jeff Bliss and Sara Jane Mildenstein.
Arlene is preceded in death by her husband Elvin, her parents Herman and Amanda Libke, brothers Robert and LuVerne Libke, sisters-in-law Lorraine Christensen and Freida Hamann.
