In Memory of Dennis John Pirigyi

Dennis J. Pirigyi, age 75, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at his residence of Ida Grove, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Military Rites will be conducted by the McNamara-Moore Post No. 61 of the Ida Grove American Legion.  Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, June 26, 2021, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa.

All are invited to join the Pirigyi Family at The Shovel in Ida Grove, Iowa, at 12:00 p.m., for light refreshments and to share memories together, as we honor and celebrate Dennis life.

    Dennis John Pirigyi, age 75, passed away at his home on June 17, 2021. He was born on April 26, 1946, in Cleveland, OH, and grew up in both Cleveland and Long Beach, CA. Dennis was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War, in which he honorably served as a private.

    Dennis married Elaine Ewell in 1970. Together, they adopted their foster daughter, Cheryl. Dennis married a second time to Sherry Coy in 1995, and they had three children together: Forrest, Sierra, and Meadow.

    Dennis and Sherry moved to Ida Grove, IA, in 1996 to open the Gastrodome Bar and Restaurant. Dennis owned and managed restaurants throughout this life. He was passionate about good food and loved to share his cooking talents with friends and family, both at home and in the community.

    Dennis was known for his intelligence, charisma, and sense of humor. He was the life of the party, and loved to make people laugh with his jokes, funny t-shirts, and quick wit. He was always there for his children and friends, and his presence will be sorely missed.

    Dennis is survived by his son and wife, Forrest and Genesis; daughter and husband, Sierra and Roger; daughter, Meadow; and grandchildren, Gage, Aubrey, Joslyn, and Lucas. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Irene; brother, Dale; and adopted daughter, Cheryl.
