In Memory of Geraldine Rose Dankert

Geraldine Rose Dankert, age 85, of Ida Grove, Iowa passed away on Monday, July 12, 2021, at Odebolt Specialty Care of Odebolt, Iowa.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 16, 2021, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Reverend Richard A. Salcido will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa. A Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., on Thursday, July 15, 2021 at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa.   The Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa is in charge of the funeral arrangements.  Condolences may be sent online at www.christensenvanhouten.com

Geraldine Rose Dankert, the daughter of Gerald and Rosina (Wittmaack) Christie, was born on May 6, 1936, in Ida Grove, Iowa. She grew up in Ida Grove and graduated from Ida Grove High School with the class of 1954.

On October 17, 1987, Geraldine was united in marriage to the love of her life, Wayne N. Dankert, in the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. The couple made their home in Ida Grove where Geraldine owned and operated Ida County Abstract from 1972-2002, she then sold it to her nephew Kevin.

A devoted Christian, Geraldine was a faithful member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Ida Grove. Geraldine was an accomplished organist lending her talents playing for weddings, funerals, and church services. She also led the hand bell choir at church. Geraldine held many offices within the church and also served on the Iowa Jobs Board.

Geraldine had a passion for playing the organ. She also loved going on bank bus trips with her husband Wayne, watching television, reading the Iowa magazine and readers digest, and visiting with family and friends.

Left to cherish her memory are her devoted husband, Wayne Dankert; sister-in-law, Julie Christie;  nephews: Kevin (Peggy) Christie, Kirk Christie, and Keith (Amy) Christie; great nephews: Bradley (Melodie) Christie, Nathan Christie, and Alex Christie; great niece, Courtney Christie; great-great niece, Ellie Orcutt; great-great nephew, Cole Christie; extended family and a host of dear friends.

Geraldine was preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Rosina Christie; and brother, Bruce Christie.
