In Memory of Jack L. Korwes
Jack L. Korwes, age 73, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center of Sioux City, Iowa.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 23, 2021, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Rev. Richard A. Salcido will officiate. A Visitation will be held one-hour prior from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Monday, August 23, 2021, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Military Rites will be conducted by the McNamara-Moore Post No. 61 of the American Legion of Ida Grove, Iowa.

Jack Lee Korwes, the son of Joseph and Betty (Petersen) Korwes, was born on June 29, 1948, in Storm Lake, Iowa. He was raised in Storm Lake and received his schooling from Storm Lake High School. In 1969 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in Vietnam. Upon his honorable discharge he returned to Storm Lake and was employed as a truck driver.
On September 2, 1978, Jack was united in marriage to Carol A. Riessen. The couple made their home in Schleswig, Iowa and were blessed with three children: Nathan, Jason and Angelia. Jack and Carol owned and operated the bakery and café in Schleswig along with the Schleswig Lanes bowling alley for a number of years. The couple then moved to Ida Grove, Iowa and Jack returned to truck driving.
Jack could be found listening to country music or watching Westerns. He also enjoyed spending time in his shop.
Left to cherish his memory include wife Carol Korwes of Ida Grove, IA; children Nathan Korwes of Webster City, IA, Jason Korwes of West Point, NE and Angelia (Bobby) Williams of Ida Grove, IA; 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brother Howard (Mary Lou) Korwes of Arizona and sister Linda (Jim) Morton of Overland Park, KS.
He was preceded in death by his parents as well as his maternal and paternal grandparents.
