In Memory of Diane Kay Wilkins

Diane Kay Wilkins, age 79, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital of Denison, Iowa.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 18, 2022, at the First United Methodist Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Rev. Luann Benge will officiate.

Diane Kay Wilkins, the daughter of Jack and Betty (McCaulley) Booher, was born on August 25, 1943, in Lincoln, Nebraska. She grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and Des Moines, Iowa, where she graduated from Roosevelt High School with the class of 1961.

After high school, Diane furthered her education at Central College and studied fashion design when she attended Iowa State University. She was employed over the years as an office manager for Connecticut General, Iowa Ban Corporation, and the Dank Holding Company.

Diane was united in marriage to Steven L. Wilkins on June 17, 1978, in the Meredith Drive Reform Church of Des Moines. The couple made their home in Des Moines and were blessed with a son, Glen.

In 2005 Steven retired from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office and the couple relocated to Ida Grove, Iowa. Diane was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Ida Grove and a past member of the Army Reserves.

Diane relocated to Eventide in Denison, Iowa, in 2017 where she resided until her passing on Saturday, August 27, 2022, at the age of 79.

In her free time, Diane enjoyed tending to her flowers, making flower arrangements, caring for pets, reading ( her favorite book was the Velveteen Rabbit), and cooking. 

Survivors include her husband Steven Wilkins of Ida Grove, IA; son Glen (Ellif) Wilkins of Carmichael, CA; grandchildren: Freyja, Dafne, and Havi Wilkins; brother Richard (Shirley) Booher of Des Moines, IA; sister-in-law Lynn (Lenly) Wilkins Gearhart of Wilsonville, OR; and extended family.

Diane was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Betty Booher; in-laws Clarence “Tiny” and Leila Wilkins.
