In Memory of Sandra Kay Jepsen

Sandra Kay Jepsen, age 69, of Battle Creek, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at the CHI St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa. Committal Services will follow in the Ida Grove Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa.

A Visitation will be held one-hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at the Christensen-Van Houten Funeral Home of Ida Grove, Iowa.

Sandra Kay Jepsen, the daughter of Joseph and Donna (Williams) Stapleton, was born on July 28, 1953. She grew up most of her childhood on a farm located outside of Battle Creek, Iowa, except for a several years in California. She attended Danbury Catholic School of Danbury, Iowa and later she worked at the Tip Top in Ida Grove, Iowa, for several years.

Sandra was united in marriage to Terry Jepsen in 1978 and the couple were blessed with four children: Joel Stapleton (stepson), Melissa, Elaina, and Jody Jepsen. They later parted ways. 

Over the years Sandra worked as a flagger in the construction industry and then later as a caregiver at in home health for 10 years before retiring due to health issues in 2015.

Sandra enjoyed colleting trinkets and other oddities, and crocheting. She loved her cats, Bella and Little One, and her dog, DW, and treasured her family and grandchildren. She also loved tending to her flower beds and took pride in her green thumb growing house plants. Her favorite flower was a carnation as they grew wild in California in the time she spent there as a child. 

Survivors include her children: Joel Stapleton of Denison, IA, Melissa (Luke Schroder) Jepsen of Sioux City, IA, Elaina Kirchner of Battle Creek, IA (Chris Kirchner of Aurelia, IA) and Jody (Sarah) Jepsen of Battle Creek, IA; five grandchildren; sister-in-law Kate Stapleton of Battle Creek, IA; and extended family and friends.

Sandra is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Donna Stapleton; and brother Patrick Stapleton.
