In Memory of Betty L. Oberreuter
Betty L. Oberreuter, age 87, of Ida Grove, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home of Boone, Iowa.
A Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., with a visitation held one hour prior from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., on Friday, October 28, 2022, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. Father William A. McCarthy will officiate. Committal Services will follow in the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery of Ida Grove, Iowa.

Betty L. Oberreuter, the daughter of Earl and Florence (Hess) Nading, was born on March 21, 1935, in Rembrandt, Iowa. She grew up in Rembrandt where she received her education and graduated from Rembrandt High School.
After graduation, Betty went on to further her education in nursing in Marshalltown, Iowa, where she obtained an associate’s degree in nursing. Throughout her extensive RN career, you may remember Betty for her excellent care given in the Cook County Hospital, Storm Lake Hospital, Hartley Hospital, Crawford County Hospital, Loring Hospital, and the Willow Dale Care Center. Betty believed in better healthcare for everyone. Along with her friend Ann Snell they influenced and opened Ida County Public Health.
While working in Storm Lake, Iowa, Betty met her future husband, Lenus Maguire and the couple were united in marriage in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Ida Grove, Iowa. They welcome three children together: Michael, Jean, and Mark. The family made their home in Cushing, Iowa, on a farm before relocating to Ida Grove, Iowa, in 1969.
After the loss of Lenus, Betty remarried Keith William “Bill” Oberreuter in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church on August 11, 1978. The couple made their home in Danbury, Iowa.
Betty enjoyed crocheting, knitting, watching soaps, old movies and the Price Is Right, along with spending time with family. She was a devoted Christian who dedicated her life to caring for others.
Survivors include her daughter Jean Volkmann of Boone, IA and son Mark Maguire of Denison, IA; grandchildren: Crystal (Max) Maguire, Michael (Anne) Maguire, Heather (Ben) Fernandes, Kelsey Maguire and Kayla Maguire; great grandchildren: Austin, Alexandra, Blake, and Kylie Petersen, and Roman and Deacon Fernandes; brothers: Richard (Helena) Nading, Russell (Judy) Nading, and Stan (Jolene) Nading; sister Linda Nading; many nieces, nephews extended family and friends.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Earl and Florence Nading; husbands Lenus Maguire and Bill Oberreuter; son Michael (Cheryl) Maguire; and granddaughter Becky Brewster.
